History
Henneke Funeral Home has been serving Columbus area families for years. We are honored to be a part of the rich history of this community and plan to be a part of it for many years to come.
A Rich Tradition of Care and Service
The history of Henneke Funeral Home dates back to 1896 when James Ramsey opened a hardware and undertaking store in the historic Ehrenwerth-Ramsey-Untermeyer building in downtown Columbus, Texas. His son, Charles Ramsey, continued in his father's footsteps until 1925, when he sold the business to the Untermeyer family who owned and operated Untermeyer Funeral Home for over 40 years. In 1969, the Untermeyer family sold the funeral home to Robert H. and Katharine Henneke, who now continue a rich tradition of care and service to Colorado County through Henneke Funeral Home. Our new central location at 1515 Montezuma Street provides the families of Colorado County with a beautiful, large chapel (350 seating capacity), affordable options, cremations, prepaid funeral plans that fit into nearly any budget, monuments and mausoleums, and a variety of customized services.
Some Special Ways We Serve You
Family Tradition. We offer caring, special attention to details and affordable service. Our tradition of professionalism and integrity has brought comfort to countless families. This is what we believe in and what we offer to our families. Since 1969, Henneke Funeral Home has been family-owned and operated by Robert H. and Katharine Henneke.
Personalized Service. Funeral arrangements are planned in every detail as a fitting tribute and reflect individual family preferences. We want families to select music with meaning to them; we help with arranging a service reflecting their faith, and in choosing caskets, urns or vaults that fit their desires and needs. These are just a few ways we can help at the time of the funeral planning.
Affordable Cost Options. As a family-owned funeral home, we understand many families are on a budget. With our wide choice of services, families can select only those services that are affordable and meaningful to them. Sometimes people are hesitant to discuss cost, but we want to be open about all aspects of our services.
Pre-Arrangements. Families are making their funeral arrangements in advance now more than ever. This allows families to make wise decisions at a time when they are better prepared to do so. Planning ahead is peace of mind for your loved ones.
