Lillian Grace Kahlden

November 23, 1931 - October 22, 2020

Lillian Grace Kahlden, 88, passed away on October 22, 2020, at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.

She was born to Oscar Berger and Annie (Butschek) Berger on November 23, 1931 in Orange Grove, Texas. Lillian married Otto Kahlden on November 25, 1950 at Weimar United Church of Christ. Otto and Lillian were married for 67 years before his death on August 10, 2018 and were lifelong residents of the Osage community.

Lillian was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She worked at Herder Truck Lines and Fitzpatrick Chiropractic Clinic for 46 years. She was very active in her church serving on numerous committees and singing in the church choir. Her hobbies included crocheting, playing dominoes, tending to her pets and plants, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Throughout the years, Lillian always took care of the needs of others before her own. You could often find her in the kitchen, baking or cooking for an event or person in need. She could see the good in everyone and find the positive in every situation. Her smile was contagious.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto; son, Roy Kahlden; sisters, Esther Freeman and Annette Hertel; brothers-in-law, Rex Freeman, Earl Hertel, Fred Wilson, Leslie Kahlden, Kervy Kahlden, and sister-in-law, Betty Kahlden.

She is survived by her son, James (Jim) Kahlden and wife, Betty; brother, Delmar Berger and wife, Dell Faye; sisters-in-law, Laverne Wilson and Lanette Kahlden; grandchildren, Jamie Turner and husband, Chris, Stephanie Parry and husband, Andrew. Four great-grandchildren also survive her, Kaylin Turner, Brynlee Turner, Alana Parry, and Cohen Parry.

Her Celebration of Life will take place Monday, November 23, 2020 at 10:00 am in the Weimar United Church of Christ sanctuary. In an abundance of caution due to the recent COVID-19 operating procedures, the church is asking that face masks be worn as well as social distancing up to 6 feet apart. The service will also be live streamed on the church website at www.weimartxucc.com or their Facebook page WeimarUCC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Weimar United Church of Christ, 403 West Main St., Weimar, TX 78962 or the charity of your choice.
