August 26, 1931 - November 2, 2019

James Edward Jordan, age 88, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 2, 2019. He was a devoted husband and a special friend, and he will be deeply missed.

James was born on the 26th of August 1931 in Marlin TX. He grew up in Houston, TX graduating from the Old Sam Houston High School located in downtown Houston in 1950 and graduated from the University of Houston after serving 4 years in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He earned two medals: National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

His long and vibrant career was with Amoco Texas of 30 years in the field of exploration. He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Jean (Michie) Jordan. James and Martha met in Sam Houston High School in 1950 and went their separate ways after graduation. They re-connected 52 years later and were married on April 12, 2003, in the First Baptist Church, Columbus, TX where they both retired.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie Elbert Jordan and Eula Mae (Pittman) Jordan, and his sister Elinor Jordan Bridges.

The funeral service under the direction of Henneke Funeral Home will recognize his military record with the United States Air Force at the First Baptist Church, Columbus, TX on November 8, 2019 at 10:00 AM. A visitation will be an hour before, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM. A private burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, TX.

In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in James' honor may be directed to First Baptist Church, 1700 Milam, Columbus, TX 78934 for their active mission programs or a charity of your choice.
