Werner Otto Luedecke, age 88, passed away in Columbus, Texas on June 20, 2019. He was born to Otto and Hedwig "Hattie" (Meyer) Luedecke on May 23, 1931 in Bernardo, Texas. He married Juanita Garling on May 19, 1957.

Werner worked as a master mechanic for various gravel mining Companies all his adult life. He served his country in the Army during the Korean War until 1953. He loved to work on the farm in Bernardo, fish, hunt ducks and spend time with his family. His favorite thing was riding his tractor on the farm. He enjoyed sharing time with his grandchildren and spending time with the guys at the coffee shop. His true passion was working on and overhauling small engines.

Werner was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lee Esther Wright and Bernice Rodgers, and brothers Kermit Luedecke and Lester Luedecke. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Luedecke; daughter, Mary Sablatura and husband Terry; son, James Luedecke and wife Jane; grandchildren, Jacob Luedecke and wife Currie, Sydney Sablatura and Hali Sablatura; great grandchildren, Jett James Luedecke and Leddi Lou Luedecke.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home, with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. A visitation will be held before the funeral, from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Zoar Lutheran Cemetery in Mentz.

Serving as pallbearers: Gary Ashford, Jimmy Garcia, Smokey Leyendecker, Jacob Luedecke, Clinton Maertz, Danny Ostert, Everett Wright and Barrett Orsak. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his "coffee drinking buddies".
