Dear Shirley,

I just was notified by our friend Phil Collmer of Chuck's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and wish for you all the strength and courage to continue to live your life. I am glad that you seem to be surrounded by very good friends there. I have found memories of being stationed with you all in Germany. May God bless you and yours.

I was stationed with Chuck during mid-60s. He was hard worker, easy to get along with, and was destined for a fine career in the USAF and in anything he took on afterwards. He was a "great guy".

Sending prayers to Shirley during this difficult time. Charles Joe has always been so sweet and sincere toward me the "youngest" cousin. I have fond memories of our visits to his parents, Aunt Martha & Uncle Walter. Rest in peace.

My cousin Charles Joe had a sweet, kind nature. When my family visited Columbus, he would take time to give his young cousins a tour of his town, pointing out points of interest and the location of the best ice cream treats available. What could be better than that to middle schoolers! Since Charles Joe was the first person in the family who went to college, he opened the door for that possibility to all of us. He never failed to be gracious, attentive, respectful and a role model for all of us.

Charles was classmate on mine and always enjoyed his company especially playing blackjack. He did something that I also wanted to do and that was fly. May he rest in Pease.

Shirley, I have many good memories of Charles Joe. We were "across the street" neighbors and buddies. Classmates at Columbus High School, bandmembers together. Our mothers served as class and band mothers together for several years. We rode together to school in Charles' 1937 Plymouth Coupe and to many other memories to mention here. Deeply saddened by his passing. A lovely man and dear friend. May our Lord see you through this time of grief. Love Jimmy Foster, Katy, TX

Shirley, we are deeply saddened to learn of Chuck's passing. He was a true friend, a great Lion, and wonderful mentor. He will be missed.

I went with him many times when we or he had to go around and tell about the Texas Lions Camp.
When he was Boss Lion(what our club calls the President) he ask me to start or see if I could start a Website for our club.At the time I said;I will try and with Lions Club International they have it very easy! He actually wrote the presentation about our club which is still on the Website today.
Shirley,it was a great honor to known him as we were best of friends and did many thing together is our club. As I always say" Keep your head up" I think chuck would want that!
