Edna M. Taylor

Edna Massingale Taylor died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. Edna was born May 10, 1915 to Emmit Albert Massingale and Edna Baxter Massingale in Orange, Texas. She was the fourth of six children. In June 1940, Edna met and married her first husband in Orange, where he was working as a Naval Radio Inspector and she was the ticket seller for the movie theater. They had their first child, Jean Catherine and moved to Ballinger, Texas in 1946. Edna had her second child Jo Anne and two year later, the family moved to Columbus. Together they ran a television and radio repair shop and had their third child, Paul Anthony "Tony". Edna's first husband , J. Oscar, died in 1962. Edna then met Reginald "Rip" Taylor in 1964 and they married June 1974. They moved to Weimar and then Sealy before a final move to San Antonio in 1978. Edna and Rip shared a love of travel and saw the world together. They traveled to Europe, Asia, South America, Australia and all over North America over the next 27 years. Rip died in March of 2001 at the age of 99. Edna continued to live in their home until her death.
Edna has a large family in heaven and all over Texas who will always remember her. Daughter and caregiver; Jo Anne Braden Melo, San Antonio, TX; son; Paul Anthony "Tony" Braden and wife Letty, Schertz, TX. Grandchildren: Alex Melo and wife Gwen; Gina Mullen and husband Daniel; and Dora Jean Braden. And 3 Great-grandchildren, her "love bugs": Makenna Melo, Caitlyn Melo and Cassidy Mullen.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands; daughter, Jean Catherine Braden Harrup; brothers: John Charles, Andrew and Billy Massingale; sisters: Katherine Harris and Jean Arnold.
